PINELANDS self-catering cottage CAPE TOWN                      AMBLESIDE HOUSE self catering cottage
.
Ambleside House is situated in leafy Pinelands, a very quaint, self-contained Garden Cities suburb in Cape Town. The self catering cottage is an annex to the main manor house and is totally separate, offering guests privacy, security  and comfort.  The 120sqm cottage which is generously proportioned, offers two large bedrooms; one is a double and the other has two single beds making the unit very appealing to the small family or business executive.  There is a full bathroom that is en suite to the main bedroom and is shared by both bedrooms.

Decor throughout the self-catering cottage at Ambleside House is an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary, combining to create a comfortable space in which to relax – whether you are working or on holiday. A large, bright lounge opens to a fully fitted kitchen with a huge separate dining room off to one side. A private, well maintained garden completes the picture.  Given the nature of the cottage, people relocating to Cape Town find it the ideal spot in which to live while they find their feet in The Mother City.

Although self catering, a nutritious self-help continental  breakfast can be provided on request. A daily cleaning service and a laundry service are also offered, at a small premium.   There is secure parking for guest’s cars on the property.

Attractions Nearby and Transport Links
Ambleside House is conveniently situated and is close to everything.  It is therefore ideally placed for exploring the numerous attractions that Cape Town has to offer. Cape Town city centre, Table Mountain with its famous cableway, Cape Town International airport, the closest beaches, major shopping malls including Canal Walk and Cavendish Square, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Groote
Schuur Hospital, the University of Cape Town and the fabulous V&A Waterfront are all within 10 minutes drive.

The railway station is located at the top end of Broadwalk, just 300m away providing visitors with a convenient transport link to the city.

Great restaurants (including Thai, Greek, Mexican, seafood and Italian), Vincent Pallotti hospital, Old Mutual’s head office and two signature golf courses, are less than 1km away.  The famous Cape Winelands are a short 30 minute drive away.

There is a shopping centre nearby (Howard Centre) with all the major conveniences including a Pick n Pay supermarket, Woolworths, all the main banks, the post office, a variety of boutiques, estate agents, a doctor, dentist, etc.

At the bottom end of Broadwalk just 200m away, there is a smaller convenience centre with a Super Spar, ATMs, video shop, Italian restaurant (highly recommended), coffee shop, hair dresser, pharmacy and florist.

With Pinelands situated just off the N2, access to other major highways is simple with links from there to the N1, M5 and M3.  A variety of taxi cab companies are available and are merely a telephone call away.

DIRECTIONS FROM THE AIRPORT (N2 HIGHWAY)
From the airport, follow the signs towards Cape Town. You will be on the N2 highway. You will pass two large cooling towers and power station on the right side. Remain in the left lane. Shortly after this, the road bends to the right (there is a golf course on the left). Watch out for the sign that says Pinelands M52. Take this off ramp. The road swings to the left and you pass over the N2 highway you have just been on. You will come to a set of traffic lights with a hospital on your left (Vincent Pallotti). Go through this intersection, over the railway bridge and at the bottom of the incline, turn left. This is Forest Place. Immediately you will be confronted with a choice of three roads. Take the middle road, Acacia Way. This road bears right immediately. Cross over Peak Drive and the next intersection is Broadwalk. Turn right into Broadwalk and Ambleside House is the 4th property on the left. It is a thatch roofed house with a gable. Please buzz the intercom with the green light.

DIRECTIONS FROM THE CITY
You will leave Cape Town on Eastern Boulevard (M3) heading towards Muizenberg, Somerset West and the airport. Travel at 80km/h as there are speed traps on this highway. As you come around the mountain past Groote Schuur hospital, the highway splits into two. The two right lanes head toward the Southern Suburbs and Muizenberg, while the two left lanes head towards the airport. You should be in the left lanes. Carry on for a couple of kms and just as the highway begins to bend to the right, there is an off ramp marked Pinelands M52. Take this off ramp. You will come to the same set of traffic lights beside the Vincent Pallotti hospital (
then see directions above).

DIRECTIONS FROM THE N1 HIGHWAY
If you come in on the N1 from the direction of Paarl, you will pass Centurty City/Canal Walk the huge shopping mall on the right about 10kms short of Cape Town. Get in the left lane at this point. The road bears right about two kms past Century City. There will be a sign that says M5 Muizenberg. Take this off ramp. There is often a line of vehicles backed up at this off ramp so be patient. Follow the M5 for a few kms and then take the N2 off ramp towards Somerset West and the airport. Stay in the left lane as you don't actually get on to the N2. As you take the off ramp, there will be assign that says Pinelands M52 to the left. This will take you off the highway and up to the same set of traffic lights at the intersection where the Vincent Pallotti hospital is on the left. (
thensee directions above)
