Meadowridge, Cape Town
Meadowridge was designed from
the start to be a garden suburb and was carefully laid out to include wide
pavements with pathways, grass verges and trees. The two shopping centres in Meadowridge
are just across the road from the sports clubs and Meadowridge Common. The Common is a welcome "green lung" in
the heart of the suburb. In the more open areas, away from the pine trees on the
commonage, efforts are being made to
preserve one of the last remaining areas of highly threatened Sand Plain Fynbos.
Bordering the Meadowridge Common are a number of sports clubs, a
scout hall, a guide hall, two nursery schools / kindergartens and the
Meadowridge Library. There are also two shopping centres in the centre of Meadowridge. Meadowridge is located within the well known Constantia Valley. The Constantia Valley is bounded on three sides by mountains. To the west the valley is flanked by the eastern side of the world famous Table Mountain and a little further south rises the prominent Constantiaberg ("Constantia Mountain"). To the North, Wynberg Hill separates The Constantia Valley from other suburbs closer to the centre of Cape Town. To the south, The Muizenberg Mountains are the dominant feature on the horizon. Towards the east lies The Main Road (M4), the Southern Suburbs / Simonstown railway line and the suburbs in the direction of The Cape Flats. Meadowridge has very good road access to other parts of Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula. For self-catering and bed & breakfast
